An Open Letter To Friends

the world swinging and colliding with coronavirus

Dear Family and Friends,

Just a few thoughts about what is happening right now. I’ve heard many say “this is a strange time right now” and “this has never happened before” and it’s true. All over the world, people are staying home to avoid catching a virus, businesses have quit running, schools have closed three months early, gatherings are banned, and the government has passed legislation to give citizens and businesses money to pay their bills and buy food. No one knows what the outcome will be: when will the epidemic stop, what will happen to the economy, how many will die, when will life return to normal, how will I pay my bills and buy food?

Please realize that THIS IS NOT A TIME TO BE LIVING OUTSIDE OF A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS……………………………………

Jesus came many years ago to tell us about God, who he is, what he’s like, what he wants from us. Also, He came to show us how to have the BEST LIFE and told us that if we were his, we would spend eternity with him after we die. This is the good news, also known as the Gospel. It’s for all people, not just Americans or white or the good, or any other label that we use.

How do we have a relationship with Jesus? It is so simple that a child can grasp it. It requires that a person recognize who Jesus is – the Savior – and admit that they are a sinner (doing, saying what is not right in God’s eyes) and repenting of this behavior. It is asking Jesus to cover this sin and become the Lord in this life. Praying a prayer that covers this is called the sinner’s prayer. Making Jesus Lord means following him, praying to him (talking to him), learning more about him (reading the Bible), seeking to be part of his family (the church, other believers), and living a life that reflects all of this. This means being a Jesus follower, a disciple of Jesus.

Many have made Jesus their Lord at one time, but have drifted away. They no longer worship, follow, or recognize Jesus. Pressures from everyday life, resentments, busyness can cause individuals to walk away from Jesus. Despite this, Jesus welcomes his followers back, even if they have drifted away. He is as near as a prayer and leans down to hear you. Remember that “God is Love.”

Love, Esther
