Over the years working with married couples, Esther and I have observed that many Christian couples we have known or who have participated in marriage courses seem to have a sense that there should be something more to life and marriage. Even if couples have participated in marriage programs, courses, and retreats, and have committed their lives to the Lordship of Christ, they have not necessarily experienced or do they necessarily fully understand what God has intended for them.
These feelings are real, and its implication has less to do with whether a couple currently has a mediocre or even a great marriage. It has more to do with a longing for a fulfilled and meaningful life and marriage. What we all want knowingly or unknowingly is a continual harmonious relationship with our spouses and with our God.
