God and Your Marriage

God and Your Marriage

Marriage ceremony with couple performed by minister outdoors

God fulfills two important roles in our marriages: first, by being the architect or creator in providing the design for your marriage, and secondly, making available on a day-by-day basis through the Holy Spirit grace, help, advice, and empowerment for every couple desiring and willing to “do their part.”

A Christian marriage consists of a legal contract between husband and wife and a deeper covenant relationship that includes God. Holy matrimony (a Christian marriage) is holy because God is holy, and He is the creator of marriage. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, as well, serves as an ever-present but unseen witness to every Christian marriage. God, in relationship with husband and wife, also desires to serve as sustainer and protector for those that seek to follow His plan and are willing to be obedient.

God desires to be personally engaged in His children’s lives and marriages, to both fulfill His purposes and, out of His love, to bless their marriages and families. Yes, Christians should have the best marriages on the earth!

It is important that we find practicality in our relationship with God.  He wants to be involved in all of our lives: in the mundane chores, the busyness that life brings, as well as in our prayers and Scripture reading.

God makes available for all His adopted children unlimited resources for our marriages through His divine love for us.  It is this love that can transform our marriages, so they will bear witness by demonstrating how our Heavenly Father can transform marriages and lives.

This love is made available through the sacrificial death and resurrection of His Only Son, our Lord, giving us a new life through faith that includes our adoption as children of God’s family as well as the available empowerment of the Holy Spirit who dwells in each believer.

God bless you, your spouse and family,  Ted
